History: | The feature was the result of Hurricane Isabel, which made landfall at Cape Hatteras on Septemeber 18, 2003. Unlike Isabel Inlet (historical) q.v., the potentially permanent inlet approximately four miles northeast of Isabel Breach, this feature (a breach - often if more permanent termed haulovers) was awash only during very high tides and wave surges, but has now become mostly filled naturally. |
